After having handled hundreds of requests for assistance from Houston residents, potential Houston residents and out of town families temporarily in Houston for medical care, Lev Echad was created. Lev Echad was established in 2020 with the support and encouragement of the Rabbinic leaders in Houston. We developed an informal network of people in the greater Jewish community who we counted on to help others in their times of need. As the number of requests for services has significantly increased as word of mouth directed people to us, we decided to formalize as an organization dedicated to provide help where we could. Lev Echad was created as a generalized chesed initiative which runs the gamut of various needs both short and long-term for medical, financial, emotional or practical support both on an individual level and a community wide scale . Our organization aims to help manage day-to-day life for any community member or visitor – whether temporary or permanent – in any type of distress.
